Three Steps to Creativity with James

Developing a visual awareness and intellectual curiosity will give you the skills that enable you to critically analyze and constructively criticize your own artwork.

Tuesday, May 19th. 11am
The Healing Arts with James

James will introduce you to various techniques of achieving a state of awareness or consciousness, in which there is equilibrium between mind and body, where natural healing occurs. Laughter, meditation, visualization, communing with nature, listening to music, practicing and appreciating art, are some of the components.
Practical painting exercises will explore the energy and vibration of colors that resonate with the natural energy and vibrations of the mind and body
and have a positive influence on our psychological and physiological health. Painting materials will be provided.
R.S.V.P. please.

Thursday, May 21st. 7pm.
“Making Faces” with James
Portraiture, Workshop 2

We will explore the “Tenebrist” method, in which the image emerges out of darkness. This method is used quite successfully by many forensic artists, working only from descriptive evidence provided by witnesses. It is also used by intuitive and physic artists.

Thursday, May 28th. 7pm.
Painting without Brushes with James

The artists who created the wonderful wall paintings in the Chauvet Caves in France more than 30,000 years ago likely used brushes made from the hairs of animals such as camels or oxen. Ever since, the favourite tool of the artist has been the brush.
This workshop will explore a wide diversity of alternative paint application “tools” that open up endless possibilities for the artist. Instead of starting with the concept or the message, we will let the colours flow and discover the image or message emerging from the magical fusion of colours and textures. Remember Judy’s exciting workshop “Negative Painting”
“The Medium is the Message” is one of the most meaningful McLuhanisms.
“focusing on the medium and how it conveys information, rather than on the content of the information“.
