Rejection Collection
“Salon des Refusés”

March 1st to March 31st.

Meet the Artists Reception - Friday March 13th. 7pm - 9pm.

Its that time of the year again, Willie has emerged from hibernation and seen his shadow. If that isn’t bad enough, many of our artists are feeling the seasonal Rejection Dejection Syndrome, that nagging malaise that most of us experience when our artwork is considered less than worthy of a place in a juried show.

Bridges Gallery is proud to present a collection of wonderful artwork that failed to attract the attention of the jurors.

Thursday, March 5th., 7pm.

“Pastel Portraiture in six steps” with James Culligan
from life, photograph and fantasy

This is an open-ended workshop to explore the great diversity of skills and techniques of portraiture, to enable you to discover your own distinctive methodology and style.

Thursday, March, 12th., 7pm.
"Interactions: How We Experience Art" by Terry Burns
Remember Terry? Her scholarly presentation "The Many-Headed Hydra - Aspects of Art through Space and Time" was a highlight of last year's educational program. Terry is a successful writer and artist.

Museum of European Art, Clarence, NY
Join the Artists Circle at M.E.A.

We are fortunate to enjoy a close relationship with the Museum of European Art and the Sculpture Garden of Alexander the Great in Clarence, NY. Many of us have participated in the annual “Art Metropolis” shows, in the company of artists from Europe and the US.’ against the background of the Dr. Wilson Greatbatch collection of classical and contemporary Art. Dr Greatbatch is Grandmaster of the Order of Alexander the Great. He is probably better known as the inventor of the Cardiac Pacemaker.

The Dr Wilson Greatbatch collection features the masterpieces of Aristide Maillol, George Braque, Charles Despiau, Jean Carzou, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Arno Breker, Ernst Fuchs, Kurt Arentz, Henry Moore, Andy Warhol, Renate Stendar-Feuerbaum, Peter Hohberger, Jan Künster, Detlef Krebs, Helga Tiemann, Mary McAndrew, Slavka Kolesar, and ViviAnn Rose.

The Order of Alexander the Great for Art and Science is an idealistic association of men and women who have been inspired by the positive ideals of Alexander: love of art and science, search of knowledge and wisdom, freedom of religion and the promotion of what unites mankind.

The Knights of the Order and supporters include artists, scientists, writers, statesmen, intellectuals, business leaders, explorers and inventors.

The founder and Director of MEA, Consul B. John Zavrel, Chancellor of OAG is a great friend and supporter of Bridges Art gallery. John and his wife Sandy were Guests of Honour at the Grand Opening of our gallery.
